review: The Rest of Us Just Live Here

“Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week’s end of the world and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life.”
― Patrick Ness, The Rest of Us Just Live Here

What if you aren’t the Chosen One?

The person who's chosen by the gods or rulers. The person who's going to save the world and has the powers to do just that. That person. Here's the question, what if you aren't the Chosen One? Just the average guy trying to pass the finals, graduation and move on with life. The Rest Of Us Just Live Here takes you behind the scenes with Mikey, to see the people who have lived with the chosen one.

I'm just going to say it now, I loved this book. It's the opposite of everything you read. You wonder about those people who lived with the chosen one. Those people who go through their normal life and having to deal with the chosen one's powers and whenever there's damage, they have to clean it up. Those people.
Meet Mikey, a teenager boy with anxiety who's just trying to graduate and ask out Henna before the school blows up again. Mikey and his gang of friends have to go through another year with those indie kids, the common chosen one's. Mikey has gone through ghosts, vampires and zombies but is he ready of this year?

During his senior year, Miky goes through friendship, anxiety, prom, parents and the end of high school. The main question: what's going to happen next? Mr. Ness went where no authors have gone before... behind the scenes and he nailed it. I couldn't put it down. It's another adventure for us readers. But this time? It's not the hero. I always wanted to about these people and now, I know what happens.

My final thoughts are...

The Rest Of Us Just Live Here is brilliant, mind blowing and so so clever. READ IT.

Thank you for reading my review!

What if you aren’t the Chosen One?  The one who’s supposed to fight the zombies, or the soul-eating ghosts, or whatever the heck this new thing is, with the blue lights and the death?  What if you’re like Mikey? Who just wants to graduate and go to prom and maybe finally work up the courage to ask Henna out before someone goes and blows up the high school. Again.  Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week’s end of the world, and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life.  Even if your best friend is worshipped by mountain lions.
